Our senior hurlers had a good victory over Castlecomer CS on Saturday 31st January at a bitterly cold and wind Fenagh pitch. Playing with the aid of a stiff wind, Castlecomer raced into a 3 point lead inside the first 5 minutes. However, the St. Peter’s defence gradually came to terms with the challenge and some terrific blocking and hooking prevented \castlecomer from building on this lead. In fact it was the Summerhill boys who took over the scoring and they forged a 6 points to 3 lead at half time. With the wind at their backs in the second half St. Peter’s ran out comfortable winners in the end and a late goal from a long range free by Billy Dunne giving a final scoreline of 1 – 13 to 0-7. They now look forward to a semi – final meeting with Borris CS on February 14th.
