Following their victory over St. Brigid’s, Loughrea in the quarter final on Saturday, our senior hurling team will take on Harty Cup winners Thurles CBS in the All Ireland Semi Final on Thursday March 19th in WIT sportsgrounds in Waterford at 2pm. The final score in the Loughrea match read 17 pts to 10 to St. Peter’s in what was an exciting encounter. However, the condition of the Ashbourne pitch did not make for stylish or attractive hurling and great credit is due to both teams for serving an entertaining contest. Following an evenly contested first quarter – St. Peter’s got into their stride and rattled of a succession of points from play to lead at half time by 10 pts to 5. They added the first 2 points of the second half and though St. Brigids hung in their for the rest of the second half St. Peter’s won comfortably enough by 7 points in the end. Thurles CBS accounted for Bishopstown in the Munster final and will pose a serious threat for this team but if they can play to their potential St. Peter’s are more than capable of upsetting the odds and reaching the All Ireland Final. We thank the players and their mentors for their efforts and wish them every success on Thursday.
