| Smart Futures | ||
|
Smart Futures is a national campaign for second-level students in Ireland highlighting career opportunities in information and communications technology (ICT) in association with e-Skills Week 2012. HP is one of the lead sponsors. The campaign includes a digital content competition, an online careers fair from 23-27 January 2012, and regular updates on a blog about the sector, career stories and competitions. It is a great initiative, so please forward on the link, www.smartfutures.ie , to family and friends with secondary school students who are currently deciding on their future career and college choices, to encourage them to log on and find out some helpful information. Some more background information from Smart Futures: ICT Ireland, the Irish Software Association and STEPS with the support of Discover Science & Engineering (DSE), are engaged in a joint careers campaign to highlight the vast number of employment opportunities in the technology sector in Ireland. The campaign, entitled “Smart Futures”, involves a number of initiatives designed to engage with students, teachers, stakeholders and the wider community in order to stimulate an interest in technology as a potential career option and to influence subject choices at second and third level. Upcoming events and initiatives in the Smart Futures series include: The “Smart Futures Start Here” online careers fair The Smart Futures Champions Programme The Smart Futures Transition Year Work Experience programme The Smart Futures Video Series We hope that, by profiling the sector and building awareness on the diverse and exciting careers in the sector, a greater number of students will consider careers in computer, technology, engineering and science courses at third level. By ensuring Ireland has the top tech talent, we will continue to grow as an ICT powerhouse on a global scale. |
