Report
First Half: As soon as the ball left Pat Kehoe’s hand both teams were set on victory, James Cash rose highest of the four to win the first ball in Peters favour. The ball did not leave the middle of the pitch for the first few minutes as both teams were settling into the game. A well won ball in the Peters midfield was dropped into Glen Malone’s hands and was played in towards goal but was excellently defended by the strong council side, who were quick on the counter attack and a free won by John Reville was placed over the bar off the ground by Aaron Diskin to put the Council one point ahead. Peters then reacted quickly and got a point of there own off the boot of Tony Smith in the 4th minute. Tony also converted a controversial goal half way through the first half. The play was very physical and the Peters did not shy out of tackles which was clear from the strength shown by James Cash in the centre of the pitch. A break away from the centre of the pitch made by Dylan Carthy Walsh put council on the attack and after a bad challenge on behalf of the Peters half back line resulted in a free which was once again placed over the bar by Aaron Diskin. Once again the ball was in the danger area for peters after a high ball was launched in on Peter’s keeper Richard Cleary who made a costly mistake which resulted in a goal converted by Cathal Bolger. Cathal Bolger then added to that with another point from just outside the Peters full back line. The play then broke through the Peters half back line again after pin point hand passing made by the council to end up in the hands of Aaron Diskin who converted his first point from play off his left boot. Peters seemed to be defending the play late in the first half and found themselves outnumbered when Council were on the attack which resulted in another point converted by Pierce Doyle in the 28th minute. Peters did have an answer though after a break away play was converted into a goal by Aaron Kehoe. The first half ended with a score line of: St Peters 2-2 Good Council 1-5

Second Half: Council Were very quick on the attack once again and punished peters defence with an early point converted by Robert Vajeaco who was a key player for the council on the day as he was given the tough challenge of marking Peters star player Donal Shanley who was playing under an injury yet still put his full effort in and had his name on the scoreboard. The battle for possession was tough in the middle of the pitch but a strong duo of Aaron Maddock and James Cash was a tough task for the council. Lee Norris then broke away from the midfield and a quick one two with John Reville was converted by Lee for his first point which was followed up by his second in the 40th minute. Peters then pressed on with the attack and a point was converted by Donal Shanley for his second of the day , adding to that he was a goal scorer from just outside the Council full back line after miscommunication between the councils keeper and full back resulted in the ball hitting the roof of the net. The council did not give up and a strong attack resulted in a point taken by Aaron Diskin for his fourth point for his side and a second point for Robert Vajeaco put the council back in contention as both sides were level. In these tense moments of the game mistakes were made on both teams but a loss of the ball in the peters half back line resulted in a late goal coming from Pierce Doyle to put the council 3 points ahead and secured them their victory. End Score of the Match: St Peter’s 3-4 Good Council 2-10

Hard luck to the Peters junior Footballers, however this year the boys showed great commitment and deserved to reach the Finals also the Peters mentors of Mr Murphy, Mr White and Mr P Ryan showed great commitment to the team and put all they had into the team to make it a success.
