| Leinster Semi Final | ||
Unfortunatly a brave St Peter's team could not find a way past the Kilkenny C.B.S. side who went on to meet St. Kieran's in the Leinster Final.They went down on a scoreline of 1-06 to 0.06. A strong wind and a heavy sleet shower early in the second-half did not deter either side as they searched for crucial scores, but really this was a day when defenders won out, as can be gauged by the final scoreline. The respective attacks fell short in front of goal, creating little in the way of chances as they were totally shut out by some excellent defensive play on both sides. Evan Coady and Eoin Mcgrath were particularly prominent for the eventual winners, while Seán Murphy and James Cash were outstanding for the Wexford side. Both sides enjoyed periods of outfield dominance with St. Peter's, in particular, showing real battling qualities as they played into a strong first-half wind. They looked a side more than capable of upsetting their more highly-rated opponents, as they hurled with passion and real quality to their play. However, their lack of scoring power in the full-forward line was to haunt them right through the 60 minutes. Five of their starting forwards failed to register a score, while the substitutes introduced also failed miserably in front of goal, with Andrew Kenny striking five of his side's points, three from frees, with the remaining score a huge outfield effort from impressive midfielder, Colm Heffernan. Once Kilkenny C.B.S. got the break for that allimportant early goal, there was always the feeling that it would be the decisive score, as the respective defences were rock-solid. With neither side managing to show any real creativity in attack, it came as no surprise when Campion's strike separated the sides at the end. Kilkenny C.B.S. will be happy to have won their way through to the final but they will need to show huge improvement if they are to progress further. Evan Coady and corner-back Shane Cassin, along with an excellent half-back line trio of Niall Mullins, Eoin Mcgrath and Mason Clifford, proved dominant, with Mcgrath at centre-back being particularly outstanding. This was the line on which most of the St. Peter's attacks perished. Philly Campion and Andrew Kenny (free) exchanged points inside the opening three minutes, with a huge Kenny free into the strong wind putting his side 0-2 to 0-1 ahead after twelve minutes. The struggle for scores was evident even at this early stage, and it was Campion who cut into the centre on 15 minutes to fire home superbly from twelve metres, sending his side into a 1-1 to 0-2 lead, a lead they were never subsequently to lose. The goal seemed to settle the side, but their finishing was wayward as they went on to strike six first-half wides, as they could only manage a further point before the break, this a magnificent long-range effort from midfielder James Langton. They continued to threaten for the remainder of the half, with Eoin Fennelly making considerable ground down the left side, but he delayed his pass inside to full-forward Kieran Doyle, whose shot for goal was blocked by a covering defence and cleared to safety. Despite the fact that they failed to score for the final 18 minutes of the first-half, St. Peter's must still have been happy as they found themselves just three points adrift at the break, and this after Andrew Kenny had sent a scoreable free wide. Kilkenny C.B.S., on the other hand, must have been concerned with their meagre 1-2 to 0-2 interval lead, having to play into a strong wind on the resumption. Kevin Doyle increased his side's lead within one minute of the re-start with a pointed free, but St. Peter's responded with three unanswered points through Colm Heffernan, a superb long-range effort, and Andrew Kenny (two), leaving the minimum separating the sides (1-3 to 0-5) after 37 minutes. When it looked as if the game was about to drift away from them, Kilkenny C.B.S. battened down the hatches, shutting out the St. Peter's attack. Substitute Benny Bolger and Andrew Kenny went on to exchange points, leaving just a point separating the sides (1-4 to 0-6) with eight minutes remaining. The hurling was real quality at this stage, but the Kilkenny boys maintained their composure as Doyle, who had switched out to centre-forward, pointed a free, with Bolger adding a further point five minutes from the end, leaving it 1-6 to 0-6. St. Peter's in one final desperate attack saw substitute Eoin Wright, having gathered a crossfield ball, turn inside his marker, but he delayed his shot in front of goal, leaving corner-back, Shane Cassin, to get back and block the ball out for a '65 which Kenny sent wide. |

| St Peters vs Castlecomer C.S | ||
Match Report from the 9th Nov 2011 Venue: Power Park Time: 2.00 Referee: Ray Mc Donald Turning Point Of The game Casltecomer got a late goal in the first half which seemed to knock the confidence out of St Peters. In the start of the second half Peters were slow to get into the game and were punsihed by giving away silly frees which were converted by castlecomers Luke maher (8) and Charles Dwyer (14). Half Time Score: St Peters: 1,8 – 2,6 Castlecomer Full Time Score: St Peters 1,11 – 4,17 Castlecomer Time Of Significant Scores: Castlecomer scored a crutial goal to put them 1 point ahead just before the break and then picked up where they left by constantly striking the ball over the bar. Goals came easily by the ball dropping into the square and converted by the full forwards. Peters Heads dropped but they continued to press on but they lost possession alot in the midfield area and the ball failed to enter the castlecomer half back line. |

Gaelic games have always been a major part of the tradition of St. Peter’s College. A huge number of students participated in many hours of training and actual games under the guidance of a very committed teaching staff. As recognition for this huge commitment to the school and their Hurling and for performing at the highest level in ‘A’ Competitions in hurling the school Captain, Shane Griffithwas presented with a Certificate of Accomplishment and a School Memento at the End of Year School Mass in Bride Street Church on Wednesday 12th May 2010. |

| NED POWER CUP FINAL | ||
Date: 7-5-09 Venue: Taghmon Conditions: Very windy Referee: Dickie Murphy S.P.C. 3-5 Good Council 4-12 A bad day at the office for St. Peter’s. A gale force wind in Taghmon meant that head or harp would probably decide the outcome of the Ned Power Cup. Good Counsel got the right call and were leading by fourteen points just before half-time. Murt Joyce goaled from close range just before the break in a rare break-away to reduce the half time deficit to 11 points. |

| S.P.C. Vs Enniscorthy CBS | ||
The juvenile hurlers had a fantastic win against Enniscorthy CBS in the Championship (Power Cup). After drawing with Birr before Easter, we were hoping to extend our unbeaten run this year. The lads performed superbly throughout and ran out comfortable winners on a score line of 8-15 to 1-2. Next up is Good Counsel College on Wednesday next in Power Park, where a win would qualify us for the Power Cup Final. Well done to all involved |

| FINAL of FATHER COSGRAVE CUP | ||
The final of the Father Cosgrave cup will take place in St. Peter's College next Monday, 20th October, 2008. The venue is Power Park and kick off is at 1.00p.m. St. Peter's College hope to retain the cup when they take on Castlecomer. Results will be posted next Monday - Best of Luck to all involved! UPDATE The Junior hurlers were defeated in the Leinster Hurling semi-final against a strong Castlecomer side. The match was played on a very wet Power Park which in fairness didn't suit either team. Indeed it was a heartbreaking way to lose a match, as with five minutes to go, St. Peter's were four points up. However with one minute to go Castlecomer went ahead from a pointed controversial free. The effort and commitment from the Summerhill boys was outstanding throughout the game, and indeed it was a pleasure to work with such an honest enthusiastic bunch of lads this year. They now have the Junior football campaign to look forward to. Well done lads. |
| Senior Hurling Update | ||
The senior hurlers had a challenge game against De La Salle of Waterford on Tuesday in De La Salle's new GAA grounds. The Waterford side are going for three All Irelands in a row and it was therefore an ideal test for the Summer Hill boys. The game ended in a draw 3-10 apiece, and the selectors hope the players will show the same committment next week against Roscrea in a league match. |
| Leinster Quarter Final Update | ||
The Junior Hurlers had a fantastic win over North Offaly Schools in the Leinster Quarter Final on Monday 13th Oct. The match was played in Carlow at Dr. Cullen Park. In previous years St. Peter's have been beaten at the hands of combined schools at juvenile level, but this group of players were determined to defeat North Offaly, a team made up of six different schools. The final score line of 2-17 to 0-11 shows the pride the Peter's boys showed in the jersey. The team now progress to the Leinster semi final which will be played this Friday. |

| Update on St. Peter's Vs Enniscorthy CBS 2/10/08 | ||
| The Junior Hurling campaign began in earnest on Thursday 2nd October with a comprehensive victory over Enniscorthy CBS. A practice match had been played against Bunclody on Monday which was an important preparation game. A wind assisted St. Peter's side took the game to Enniscorthy in the opening ten minutes and a well taken Paraic Roche goal helped settle this young Peter's side. Indeed the Summerhill boys went in at half time with a four point lead. Facing into the wind St. Peter's began to link up well and gradually pulled away to a convincing win of 3-12 to 1-5Andrew Kenny, Gary Moore and Paraic Roche. were lively in attack while Kevin Whelan was solid at centre back. Next up is Banagher next week where a win would put us in the Quarter finals. The panel will continue training at lunch time until then, and although this was a great start, all involved know there is room for improvement. | ||

| FLO GAS WEXFORD U-14 FINAL | ||
The Under 14 Juvenile hurlers ended the year on a high note with an excellent performance in the County Floglas final in Taghmon on Friday, 23rd May 2008. At half time St. Peter's trailed on a score of 1 - 3 to 1 -6. A much improved second half saw them overcome a strong Good Counsel side by 3 - 08 to 1 - 11. Captain Jason O'Dowd was presented with the cup by past pupil Mr. John Kirwan of Flogas Ireland. |

| Juvenile Hurling Shield Semi-Final Update May 19th 2008 | ||
3-8 to St. Peter's and 4-13 to Castlecomber. The Juvenile hurlers were defeated last Wednesday against Castlecomber in the Shield Semi-Final. The match was played in perfect conditions in what some people might call the home of Wexford Hurling, Rathnure. The Summerhill lads went into a four point lead at the start of the second half but then two goals in quick succession was a huge blow to our chances. The lads tried their best with some fine performances on the day but they just couldn't get back into the game. The Juvenile Hurlers now have the Flo Gas Final to play this week although the day and venue has yet to be confirmed. Indeed, they will be hoping to finish the year on a high with a victory over arch rivals, Good Counsel! |
| May 2008 UPDATE | ||
| The Juvenile Hurlers were defeated by Laois Schools two weeks ago. This meant we were relying on Enniscorthy CBS to beat Banagher to keep us in the championship. However the result didn't go our way and the Juvenile Hurlers will now compete in the Shield. The next opponents are Castlecomber Community School in the Shield semi-final in Bunclody, on Wednesday 14th May. It is a competition that we will be hoping to achieve success in, after being very unlucky in the actual championship. Indeed the team was only narrowly defeated by Laois Schools, after a terrific effort. However it must be stated that it is becoming increasingly difficult to compete against teams in this competition, when they consist of a combination of many schools. However we have qualified for the Flo Gas League Final against Good Counsel College, which will be played in the coming weeks. Indeed, the New Ross side will be undoubtedly seeking revenge after we beat them in the opening round! | ||
