| HANDBALL 2008 - 2009 | ||

All students representing the College in the 60' X 30' Competitions played very good handball and were a credit to themselves and the College. However, they met very stiff competition in the early rounds. Darragh Cloake (U-19)lost ot reigning All Ireland Champion Jason Murphy (Wexford V.C.) 21-3, 21-5. Dylan Murphy and Deam Maloney (U17 Doubles Team) lost to Wexford V.C 21-8, 21-9. Colm Kinsella and Tómas Campbell lost to Enniscorthy C.B.S. 21-3, 21-7. Dean Corrigan (U17 Singles) was very unlucky being beaten by Peter Hughes of Enniscorthy C.B.S. in a thrilling game 18-21, 21-4, 8-11. Padraig Foley and Galen Riordan(1st Year Doubles) did the College proud when they reached the Leinster Final. In the 1st Round they defeated Enniscorthy 15-2, 15-3. This was followed by a good victory over St. Kiernan's College, Kilkenny 15-3,15-7. The final was played in Kilkenny against Tullow C.S. In a thrilling game they were just pipped in the tie break 5-15, 15-6, 15-13. We now look forward to the 40' X 20' competitions and hopefully some Leinster Medals. |

Teacher : Mr. Edmund Roche The following are the students who represented St. Peter’s College in the Colleges Handball Competitions 2007-2008. U -19 DOUBLES (60’ x 30’) and ( 40’ x 20’):Aaron Waters, David Ryan, Francis Cash U -19 SINGLES: Ian Curran U -17 DOUBLES : Cormac Foley and Liam Og McGovern U -17 SINGLES : Darragh Cloke U -15 DOUBLES : John Clancy and Aaron Lacey U -15 SINGLES : Dean Corrigan 1st YEAR DOUBLES : Eoin O’Leary and Jack O’Connor 1st YEAR Doubles: Kevin Byrne The highlight of the year was Dean Corrigan who won the 60’ x 30’ UNDER 15 Singles All Ireland Handball Title. He defeated Niall O’Connor of Confey College, Leixlip in the Leinster Final in a thrilling game which went to a tie break 6-21, 21 -16, 11- 4. The All Ireland Final was played in Mullingar on the 9th November 2007. Again this was an enthralling game which also went to a tie break third game with Dean defeating Padraig O’Carroll from Limerick on a score line of 21 -17 , 11 -21, 11 -3. |
