Students Council: Minutes of meeting First meeting: 14/09/09 David O’Reilly- Secretary Discussion of officers- • Chairman- Shane Gubbins • Deputy chairman- Donall Breen • PR officer- Fergal Hynes (6votes to 5 over Jamie Rath) • Tresurer- Aidan Cash • Recreation Officer- Jamie Rath • Academic Officer- Sean Murphy Finalising Constitution - Ms Kelly suggests the office will type up constitution if we recomend changes - Discussing amount of students from each year on the students council. - Disscusing expulsion of a member from the students council - Ms. Kelly suggests that I (David O’Reilly) write a letter to Board of Management and Parents council. - Suggestion of a suggestion box to find out students needs or perhaps a school survey. - Members signing council contract. - Meeting with Mr. Quigley - Introduction to Mr. Quigley, discussion of minutes so far with principal. - Discussion of role of students council - represent students. Solve problems - Not necessarily to do projects - PR for school. - Proposition of meeting next week. - Notice board for council - Do pictures of council members on notice board - How best to interact with students - House exams, Jamie wants to know if it’s possible to discuss these exams. - Issues between teachers and students have nothing to do with the student council. - Grad committee needs to be set up for the year - Whole school evaluation will be assessing Students Council. - Mr. Quigly feels the liason with B.O.M and Parents council has been inadequate. - Meetings should be on at lunch time in future in new Meeting Room. - Create pictures to put on notice board. - Get own notice board sponsored. - Suggestions for Assistant secretary- David Atkinson - Create facebook page - Recreation room for T.Y’s Fergal- Questionaire Shane and Donal- Constitution David A- typing up minutes David O’R- letters Get new board for students council. Create students council e-mail address - Jamie talk to Mr Mcmorrow about pictures - Shane finishes up congradulating council. - Meeting adjourned |
