The Wexford Inter Schools League had another successful day as the St. Peter's A side faced Wexford CBS and our own B side in a two in a row match line up. The first match was SPC (A) vrs. Wexford CBS, the A side showed their skill from start to finish and every substitution counted to a comprehensive victory for St. Peter's. A great performance of sportsmanship and talent from both sides made great viewing. Our MVP for the day was Patrick O'Connor as he played some outstanding basketball. St. Peter's College A 51 - 2 Wexford CBS. The second match The second match was one worth waiting for, group leaders SPC (B) had to now face the A side. The first quarter was outstanding with some credited defensive and offensive moves. SPC (B) took the lead at the end of the first quarter in a very close 8 - 6 lead. The A side stepped up their game as they figured a slight gap in the (B) defence. This gave them the foot holding to secure another comprehensive win. SPC (A) 54 - 21 SPC (B). The MVP for the day is our long standing player Ciaran Murphy. Ciaran has been with us for five years and represents the school each year. His day to shine came today as Ciaran scored an "amazing" three pointer from an unbelievable distance. His team mates ran on court to cheer him on in making his mark on the match. His defensive moves and possession of the ball has always led to some great shots and scores but today he led himself to some glory. SPC A team players: Eoin Fitzgerald, Andre Butler, Andy Furlong, James Dooley, Cian Newport, Cian Lambert, Kieran Walsh, Ciaran Murphy and Patrick O'Connor. SPC B team players: Ronan O'Donnel, Ronan Jones, Ronan Finn, Aaron Doyle, Rober Modler, Anas Ibraham, David Gormley and Joesph Mahon. Finals day change: The Wexford Inter Schools Final day has been changed from Wednesday the 8th of February to a PROVISIONAL day of Tuesday the 7th. Both U19 teams will face each other once more and our U16 side face Bridgetown in their final. Good luck to all players and bring home the gold for the school!! |

Date: 21/11/11 Score: 32 - 23 Panel: Adam Reynolds, Ronan O’Donnell, Anas Ibrahim, Ronan Jones, Aaron Doyle, John Scallan, James Guiney, Joseph Mahon, David Gormley, Bill Eviston MVP: David Gormley For their first outing of the season, this was an excellent performance from this team. Although it took a while for them to get their feet, the team settled very well and began to play more together and communicate more. Bridgetown led after the first quarter, but SPC outscored them in the second quarter, and maintained that lead to the end, despite a strong comeback from Bridgetown in the final quarter. There was some excellent play from David Gormley, Bill Eviston and Joseph Mahon in particular, but in truth, all members of the team contributed greatly. Well done to all on a deserved victory. |

Date: 21/11/11 Panel: Elliott Samuel, Ben Powell, Seán Hore, Ryan O’Donnell, Conall Callery, Simon Clancy, Gareth Jones, Daniel O’Regan, Aengus O’Neill, Robert Murphy MVP:Conall Callery. This was a tough match against a well-polished Bridgetown side. Bridgetown outclassed this very young SPC side, for whom this was their first taste of competitive basketball. As the game developed, the team gelled together more and improved as a squad. There is plenty of potential to be seen in this team for the future. |

| U19's - SPC vs Bridgetown VEC | ||
SPC 48 Bridgetown 23 The experience of playing since second year was evident from a very strong and impressive St. Peter's side. Early scoring, accurate passing and supurb shooting made all the difference in this match. The starting five line up of Cian Lambert, Paddy O' Connor, Kieran Walsh, Andy Furlong and Eoin Fitzgerald got the game off to a great start. Excellent performances were shown by Andrew Butler and James Dooley proved to keep the sides momentum up. The level of passing and plays shown in todays match set up by Cian Lambert, Andy Furlong and Andrew Butler was nothing short of impressive. This however can only be achieved with the support of an entire team. Supurb shooting must be recognised by our shooter Paddy O' Connor who never seems to miss when the pressure is on. As an awesome defense was made by Eoin Fitzgerald who never seems to give up even with an attack from a determined offensive side. Substitutions late into the game gave it new energy from Ciaran Murphy, Adam Reynolds and Anas Ibraham. The side support and players for our upcoming games were given by: Cian Newport, Ciaran Walsh and Aaron Redmond. Congratulations to the St. Peter's boys on an excellent performance on and off the court. A very commendable performance must be given to the Bridgetown side. MVP: Andy Furlong |

| SPC vs Bridgetown VEC | ||

U16's SPC 21 Bridgetown VEC 24 This was the teams first outing and it proved to be the making of them. After a very hit and miss first quater the team of Kevin Doyle, Cameron Steel, Sean Maher, Dermot Fortune and Tom Reville showed true team potential. The Bridgetown side were strong and tall making defense very difficult indeed. However after a couple of breaks from the SPC side they showed that they will be a team to reckon with over the coming Wexford School's League. Back up was supplied by: Conor Gaffney, Elliot Samuel, James Lynch, Peter Callaghan, Cian O'Callaghan, Ciaran O' Brien and Sean Mordaunt. As this was the first game of the season much will be taken from it for future matches the team will have. Well done on a fantastic performance and congratulations to the Bridgetown side. MVP: Sean Maher |

| SPC Vs Bridgetown VEC - U19s | ||
Date: 17/11/10 Score: 51 - 19 Panel: Cian Lambert, Michael Eviston, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Patrick O’Connor, Andrew Butler, Carl Fox, Zach Corish, Steven Dwyer, Brian Dunne, Andrew Furlong, Daniel McGuire, James Dooley, Shane Roche, Ciarán Murphy, Cian Newport. MVP: Carl Fox. A well-deserved victory for the U19s, with a much-improved performance by all. They really started talking to each other, and playing like a team. Carl Fox was top-scorer, with excellent baskets from Michael Eviston, Cian Lambert and Paddy O’Connor. Some strong contributions from Andy Furlong, James Dooley and Eoghan Fitzgeral. Overall, a good day’s work. Well done to all. ![]() |

| SPC Vs Bridgetown VEC U16s | ||
Date: 17/11/10 Score: 49 - 23 Panel: Ronan Jones, Ronan O’Donnell, David Higgins, Joseph Mahon, Evan Devereux, Robert Modler, David Gormley, Dermot Fortune, Bill Eviston, Cormac O’Rourke, Nicholas Lacey, Conor Murphy MVP: Ronan Jones. This was a much-improved performance from the SPC U16s, who are going from strength to strength. The defence remained very strong, and Bridgetown found it difficult to break through. There were some excellent scores from Ronan Jones, David Higgins, Robert Modler, and Bill Eviston under the basket. SPC maintained their focus right to the very end. Well done to all. |

| De La Salle College, Wicklow Vs SPC - U19s | ||
Date: 15/11/10 Match 3 Score: 22 - 32 Panel: Cian Lambert, Michael Eviston, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Patrick O’Connor, Andrew Butler, Carl Fox, Zach Corish, Steven Dwyer, Brian Dunne, Andrew Furlong, Daniel McGuire, Shane Roche. MVP: Cian Lambert. A heartbreaking game for SPC – their 2nd game in the day. We were ahead up to the last quarter, and De La Salle returned in the last quarter to out-score us and take the lead. It was unfortunate. Although there were tired bodies playing their second intense game of the day, the team played better again than they had earlier in the day, which bodes well for the future. Some fine performances from Eoghan Fitzgerald and Paddy O’Connor, with Cian Lambert playing amazing basketball on both defence and offence – inspirational stuff! Hard luck to all ![]() |

| Avondale Community College Vs SPC U-16'S | ||
Date: 15/11/10 Match Number 1 Score: 19 - 13 Panel: Ronan Jones, Ronan O’Donnell, David Higgins, Joseph Mahon, Evan Devereux, Robert Modler, David Gormley, Dermot Fortune, Galen Riordan, Bill Eviston, Cormac O’Rourke. MVP: Cormac O’Rourke. For their first competitive match of the season, the U16s played very well, and started to gel more as a team by the end of the match. They were up against a very good Avondale side, who won the game in the end. SPC were ahead in the match at half-time, but Avondale came back very strongly. There is much potential in this U16s squad, with some fine performances from David Higgins, Bill Eviston and MVP Cormac O’Rourke (in his first basketball match for SPC). Hard luck to the team. |

| Avondale Community College Vs SPC U19s | ||
Date: 15/11/10 Match Number 2 Score: 24 - 22 Panel: Cian Lambert, Michael Eviston, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Patrick O’Connor, Andrew Butler, Carl Fox, Zach Corish, Steven Dwyer, Brian Dunne, Andrew Furlong, Daniel McGuire, James Dooley. MVP: Andy Furlong. An unfortunate start to the day for St. Peter’s. We started strongly and played some very good basketball throughout most of the game. Our defence, as ever, proved very strong, and kept Avondale out. There was progress to be seen from our first match of the season on offence, and in general, on working together as a team. Unfortunately, we lost our concentration, and Avondale scored some valuable baskets in the last quarter to win-out the game. Carl Fox was our top-scorer with 8 points. Andy Furlong was an excellent play-maker and dictated the play for much of the match. |

| S.P.C. U 16's Vs Presentation College U19s | ||
Challenge Match Date: 11/11/10 Score: 31 - 22 Panel: Ronan Jones, Ronan O’Donnell, David Higgins, Galen Riordan, Cormac O’Rourke, Evan Deveraux, Robert Modler, David Gormley, Seán Maher, Joe Mahon, Bill Eviston, Dermot Fortune. MVP: Cormac O’Rourke. St. Peter’s proved to be too strong of an opposition for the Senior Pres girls. This was the first game for many of our players, and all of them played very well. Our defence in particular was excellent, and it was tough for the girls to break through. There was some good link-up play between David Higgins, Bill Eviston and Ronan O’Donnell. The U16s first league match of the season will be in Rathdrum on Monday. Good luck to all. Next match on Monday 15th November |

| U19s SPC Vs Bagnelstown Community College | ||
DATE: 10/11/10 Match 1 Score: 35 - 30 Panel: Cian Lambert, Michael Eviston, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Patrick O’Connor, Andrew Butler, Carl Fox, Zach Corish, Shane Roche, Brian Dunne, Andrew Furlong, Daniel McGuire, James Dooley. MVP: Michael Eviston. The opening match of the season proved to be a tough one for St. Peter’s College, against a good Bagnelstown side. Bagnelstown started strongly, and St. Peter’s came back and went ahead for a time. But Bagnelstown’s accuracy of shooting proved the difference in the teams. SPC found it difficult to convert their chances. Some good individual play at times today. But lots to improve on. |
